Praise for I Miss You Most

“This is an ideal book to be a part of a family library, and read often to children - especially at bedtime. Author Cassie Hoyt provides just the right elements to educate while entertain - and teach a very important lesson of emotional strength and balance."

- Pacific Book Review

“One crystal-clear strength of this book is the fact that all of the artwork—bold and bright and sugar for the eyes—specifically features family and friends, adults and children, from a wide variety of ethnic and racial backgrounds. Black, white, Asian, Hispanic, old, young, and more are all clearly represented… Further, during a time where lockdowns and necessary limits on travel and in-person gatherings have become normal, there is no doubt that many people—children and adults alike—are physically and emotionally missing friends and family. As such, a new and timely picture book with this theme focused on this basic human emotion should appeal to a wide readership of both parents and children.”

-US Review of Books

“With its heartfelt and comforting message, I Miss You Most is a timely and relevant picture book that will help ease the fears and anxieties of children, while encouraging and inspiring their imaginations!”

- Word Spelunking Book Blog

"It makes a great gift for a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or child who is missing that special in-person connection with someone, whether that is due to the pandemic, work, or living a great distance apart.”

- Barbara Ann Mojica

"If you know anyone who is dealing with separation issues, whether it is the daily time at school or a long-term military deployment, then think about gifting them with a copy."

-The Fairview Review

"[I MISS YOU MOST} would be a great read-aloud for both librarians and teachers who are helping children with missing time with family and friends."

-Library Lady's Kid Lit

“A beautiful book about missing your loved ones. It’s a really touching book and I like that it features many different kids with their parents or grandparents making it more about the idea of missing that family member you love, rather than telling a linear story. It does a wonderful job of making the reader nostalgic and I couldn’t help but miss a few of my loved ones I haven’t seen in a while…. Bottom line, It’s just a super cute book that should definitely have a place on every children’s bookshelf and I love it.”

- The Children’s Bookshelf

"An excellent book and I highly recommend it."

"I Miss You Most by Cassie Hoyt is about children missing someone who is no longer near them. Some days are harder than others, and sometimes they imagine that the person is still with them as they think about all the fun things they would have done. Drawing on the concrete with their favorite chalk colors and being sung to at night before bed, kids think about all the things that could have happened. The children imagine safari trips, riding a bike, and even swimming alongside their loved ones. Sometimes their daydreaming goes so far that they wonder how far their imagination can stretch. From being pirates sailing the seven seas, or dinosaur explorers, there are so many things that a kid can daydream about with their favorite person that they always will miss the most.

I thought I Miss You Most was a wonderful and heartfelt read. I’m sure many children have people in their lives who either live far from them or are no longer with them. It’s a reminder that no matter how far away they are, they will always be missed. Sometimes our imagination helps us deal with the sadness we feel at being separated from the people we love. The storyline is relatable and easy to follow along. The illustrations are beautiful and go perfectly with the written text. Cassie Hoyt has done a wonderful job with this children’s book and I cannot wait to see more of her works.”
